HMRC have recently introduced an online tool where you can check if you need to complete a self-assessment. It asks a series of questions based on your situation and then advises, whether you need to complete one or not. With the deadline of 31st January approaching and the HMRC guidance sometimes being unclear, this tool is handy to quickly check if you need to file a tax return.
